I had to go across town the other day, and decided to drop into my favorite antique mall, Ye Olde City Antique Mall.
I got this chippy old Pyrex bowl half price, so it was $2.47. I happened upon all these cookie cutters, which were 50 cents apiece.
The black plate holder below on the right was also half price, so I got it for $4.97. And so was the other black piece on the left, which is a towel holder. It was $6.00. The little wooden box looked perfect for a decoupage project. It was $2.47. Oh, and I got the other red doily you see the chickens on in the background. Also half price, $2.47.
So I had a lot of fun that afternoon to the tune of $21.38!
And then I went outside and glimpsed this giant rusted rooster planter. The problem is, it doesn’t show up very well. Kind of blends into the background. A friend has suggested painting it.
And there has been some debate. Is this a rooster or a chicken? Guess what I paid for him/her? Twenty-eight dollars. As you can see, he/she is pretty big. Filled up the back of my Pathfinder.
Some have looked at my rooster/chicken and grinned knowingly. I know. They’re thinking it’s ugly. But surely I can make something out of this find.
All ideas greatly appreciated.
