house style: Out In The Garden

I just love the way this daisy looks as it opens its petals. This has been a prolific bloomer for me. It is in a container and new this year.

This honeysuckle vine, just planted about a month ago, is already blooming and sending out its fragrant aroma.

See this mother chickadee? If you look closely you can see a glimpse of her baby reaching out to get the worm she’s brought him. This tiny little bird has been running my yard ever since she built her nest. She’s a ferocious mother, and runs anything off that dares to come near.

I walked across the alley to my neighbor Walli’s yard. Let’s see what her gardens look like.

I am immediately struck by this color contrast.

Container plants mixed in garden beds give nice vertical focal points.

I love the whimsical feel of her back bed.

I gave her this gazing ball. It is glass, and due to my clumsiness, I only buy the unbreakable ones now. I figured it might not get broken over in her yard.
