Oh, How The Fairy Gardens Grow

IMG_5784

The various fairy gardens are so lush right now. Here we’re headed into the really hot season. Where plants begin to wither under the blazing Texas sun.

The pansies have all but piddled out. And the sedums are taking over.

The herbs are fleshed out and thriving.

Do you know what an allium looks like just before it blooms?

Doesn’t it look alien-like?

Here I got the yard all landscaped and it has become my lovely haven. Suddenly they tear down the grove of pine trees just down the road a few blocks from here for more construction. (When will it stop?) And the very next week, I have rats in my yard! Horror of horrors!

I took all my bird feeders down. I hated to do that to my dear yard birds. But I knew that was the first course of action. It just broke my heart to do it.

And what makes my blood boil is that each evening at dusk, their little rat heads appear from where they’re hiding…

…Behind my red mirror! Oh my, I stand in the dining room and watch them stare out. They’re in my holly trees. The dogs stand and bark at them. Poor Clyde is so depressed since Bonnie disappeared that he has no interest in catching any of these despicable critters.

Tomorrow the guy from Terminex, who regularly comes out to check things, is going to do whatever it is they do. I can’t have poison in my yard. Oh, someone please tell me they won’t move in permanently. I don’t think I can bear the thought of my gorgeous gardens overtaken by these horrid things.
