A New Day & A Different Kitchen Island

I have been using my Singer sewing machine table for a kitchen island for some time. But then this week came the man-cave brown sectional couch. Which meant things had to be moved all about the house to make room for its gigantic presence.

The sewing machine table needed to be evicted from the kitchen (unfortunately) and moved to the dining room. Why, you ask? It was perfect there.

Because another table, formerly in the space the red sideboard filled in the garden room, wouldn't fit anywhere else in this house. No room in the garage. Next to no attic space. It went outside overnight. I worried. I fretted. And then this idea came to me.

I hauled the table in from the deck. I walked around and stared at it. It is taller, I said to myself, and has a little more surface area...

Which got me to thinking...

I could use the space underneath for storage! Then another thought occurred to me. The table was wooden, so I could actually add things to the wood...

And so I made a trip to Hobby Lobby, my thinking cap firmly in place.

Metal items were priced half off. For seven dollars, I outfitted the wood table with metal hangers on either end.

Storage and organization floats my boat. I started feeling much better about the whole situation.

How many times have you hesitated over making a change? Then come to discover it has hidden benefits. I'm kind of liking this...
