When my soul is weary, for whatever reason, I take pictures. Lots and lots of pictures.
I settle myself outdoors, where calmness tends to wrap its arms around me. And immerse myself in staring through this third eye of sorts. I focus, as with yoga, on something like this fly, above, with its tiny thin legs balanced on the floating leaf of a water lily.
I ponder nature’s depths, an entity so much more profound than I, and try to capture its essence. Snap, snap…snap goes the camera. And my heavy heart gets infinitely lighter with each shot. Until I am almost totally consumed by whatever is in that small square frame.
I feel myself weaving hypnotically into the textures in front of me.
I am at my most peaceful here. Right here in this small space on the planet.
